- The solution for the human heart: (4:6-10, 14-15)
- Humble before God: (4:6,10): Humble before the God and God will lift us up. “Humble, yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you”(1 Pet.5:6-7).
- Submit to God: (4:7a): When we submit ourselves to God, God will teach and train us. Through our obedience we learn a lot from God.
- Resist the devil: (4:7b): Every Christian has to resist the devil. This can be done by the study of God’s Word systematically and prayerfully. The ultimate tempter is Satan. When we resist the temptations, the devil will flee away.
- Repent before God: (4:8-9):Repentance is the ultimate for any Christian. When we repent for our sins, God will forgive us, wash us from all sins. “Even if our sins as red as scarlet, He would make them as white as snow.” The author is pleading and also challenging each and every Christian to come to God. Only God can change our nature.
- Depend upon God for our future: (4:14-15): Our life is very limited. God knows how man birthdays we are going to have. Our future depends upon God and it is in His hands. So our behaviour should be that for everything we must say: “if it is the Lord’s will” we will live and do this or that.
If Christians know the solution fortheir polluting heart, they would set right their lives and would continue to grow in the knowledge of God and be a blessing to others.
