12-Characters of a Disciple
(Acts 11:26) The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
और जब उन से मिला तो उसे अन्ताकिया में लाया, और ऐसा हुआ कि वे एक वर्ष तक कलीसिया के साथ मिलते और बहुत लोगों को उपदेश देते रहे, और चेले सब से पहिले अन्ताकिया ही में मसीही कहलाए।।
Basic requirements: (TRUST) बुनियादी आवश्यकता
Knowing God’s will (SURE) परमेश्वर के इच्छा को जानना
Living in God’s Will (LoUD) परमेश्वर के इच्छा मे जीना
Basic Requirements: (TRUST)
- Trust Christ as Saviour (T) उद्धारकर्ता के रूप में मसीह पर विश्वास करें|
You cannot be Christ’s follower without trusting Him as your Savior first. It means that you have to accept that you are a sinner, and you cannot save yourself from eternal damnation. That is why you humbly accept God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus.
“Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:11-12) यह वही पत्थर है जिसे तुम राजमिस्त्रियों ने तुच्छ जाना और वह कोने के सिरे का पत्थर हो गया।
- Reigned by God (R) परमेश्वर के शासित होना ।
Of course, you cannot simply enjoy the privileges of being saved. Since it was Jesus who died on the cross to pay for your sins, you should surrender (सौंपना) your life to Him. Remember that He bought you with a huge price—His life—so you should make Him your Lord or Master.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) क्योंकि पाप की मजदूरी तो मृत्यु है, परन्तु परमेश्वर का वरदान हमारे प्रभु मसीह यीशु में अनन्त जीवन है॥
- Understand how to follow (U) कैसे पीचे करना, समझना है।
Making Jesus Christ your master means you will no longer be the boss of yourself. All areas of your life and all decisions you make must be in accordance with God’s will. This is how you take up your cross.
“Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.’” (Matthew 16:24)
यदि कोई मेरे पीछे आना चाहे, तो अपने आप का इन्कार करे और अपना क्रूस उठाए, और मेरे पीछे हो ले
- Seeking Christlikeness (S) मसीह के समान होने की खोज
Following Christ means you must be like Him. You are called to be His imitator (अनुरूप करना). It means that your character must reflect Christ’s. If you want to know more about how He lived on earth, you should study the Bible seriously.
“For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;” (Romans 8:29) 29 क्योंकि जिन्हें उसने पहिले से जान लिया है उन्हें पहिले से ठहराया भी है कि उसके पुत्र के स्वरूप में हों ताकि वह बहुत भाइयों में पहिलौठा ठहरे।
- True Living (T). सच्छी जीवन जीना है।
A true disciple of Christ lives for God. Whether you live or die, it will be for Him alone. Your utmost goal is to live for the Lord’s glory.
(James 1:23-26) 23 क्योंकि जो कोई वचन का सुनने वाला हो, और उस पर चलने वाला न हो, तो वह उस मनुष्य के समान है जो अपना स्वाभाविक मुंह दर्पण में देखता है।
24 इसलिये कि वह अपने आप को देख कर चला जाता, और तुरन्त भूल जाता है कि मैं कैसा था। 25 पर जो व्यक्ति स्वतंत्रता की सिद्ध व्यवस्था पर ध्यान करता रहता है, वह अपने काम में इसलिये आशीष पाएगा कि सुनकर नहीं, पर वैसा ही काम करता है।
Apostle Paul says: “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.” (Romans 14:8) क्योंकि यदि हम जीवित हैं, तो प्रभु के लिये जीवित हैं; और यदि मरते हैं, तो प्रभु के लिये मरते हैं; सो हम जीएं या मरें, हम प्रभु ही के हैं
Knowing God’s Will (SURE) परमेश्वर के इच्छा को जानना
- Submit yourself to Discipleship (S) अपने आप को शिष्यता के लिए समर्पित करें
Moreover, a true disciple is a good student. They submit themselves to the authority of a mentor, discipleship leader, or pastor who will teach them how to become an effective servant of God. Being a disciple means you are teachable and humble. शिष्य होने का अर्थ है कि आप सिखाने योग्य और विनम्र हैं।
“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” (Colossians 1:28-29) जिस का प्रचार कर के हम हर एक मनुष्य को जता देते हैं और सारे ज्ञान से हर एक मनुष्य को सिखाते हैं, कि हम हर एक व्यक्ति को मसीह में सिद्ध कर के उपस्थित करें।
29 और इसी के लिये मैं उस की उस शक्ति के अनुसार जो मुझ में सामर्थ के साथ प्रभाव डालती है, तन मन लगाकर परिश्रम भी करता हूं।
- Understand a Disciple Mission (U) शिष्य के मिशन को समझें
Being a disciple of Jesus means you take part in the Great Commission. All His followers are called to share the gospel and disciple others to do the same.
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:18-20)
18 यीशु ने उन के पास आकर कहा, कि स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी का सारा अधिकार मुझे दिया गया है। 19 इसलिये तुम जा कर सब जातियों के लोगों को चेला बनाओ और उन्हें पिता और पुत्र और पवित्रआत्मा के नाम से बपतिस्मा दो। 20 और उन्हें सब बातें जो मैं ने तुम्हें आज्ञा दी है, मानना सिखाओ: और देखो, मैं जगत के अन्त तक सदैव तुम्हारे संग हूं।।
- Rooted in Fellowship (R) संगति मे बने रहना।
In addition to the above a good disciple has a servant’s heart, which is characteristic of a good follower. They should follow the steps of Jesus, who demonstrated humility by washing His disciples’ feet (पैरों को दोया). According to Him, anyone who wants to follow Him must serve instead of demanding to be served. जो कोई भी उसका अनुसरण करना चाहता है उसे सेवा की माँग करने के बजाय सेवा करनी चाहिए।
“Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’” (Matthew 20:25-28)
25 यीशु ने उन्हें पास बुलाकर कहा, तुम जानते हो, कि अन्य जातियों के हाकिम उन पर प्रभुता करते हैं; और जो बड़े हैं, वे उन पर अधिकार जताते हैं। 26 परन्तु तुम में ऐसा न होगा; परन्तु जो कोई तुम में बड़ा होना चाहे, वह तुम्हारा सेवक बने।
27 और जो तुम में प्रधान होना चाहे वह तुम्हारा दास बने। 28 जैसे कि मनुष्य का पुत्र, वह इसलिये नहीं आया कि उस की सेवा टहल करी जाए, परन्तु इसलिये आया कि आप सेवा टहल करे और बहुतों की छुडौती के लिये अपने प्राण दे।।
- Explore God’s Word and other writings (E) परमेश्वर के वचन और अन्य लेखों का अन्वेषण करें
You cannot be a good Christian disciple if you are not knowledgeable of God’s Word. Therefore, take studying the Bible seriously. Do PBS, Inductive Bible study, Expository bible study etc. Besides, from having regular Bible reading time, followers are encouraged to enroll in Bible or theology classes to become experts in the Scriptures.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
16 हर एक पवित्रशास्त्र परमेश्वर की प्रेरणा से रचा गया है और उपदेश, और समझाने, और सुधारने, और धर्म की शिक्षा के लिये लाभदायक है। 2Pet 1:20;
17 ताकि परमेश्वर का जन सिद्ध बने, और हर एक भले काम के लिये तत्पर हो जाए।।
Living in God’s Will (LoUD) प्रभु के इच्छा में जीना
- Love other disciples (Lo) दूसरे शिष्यों / विश्वासियों से प्रेम करो
Jesus said that one of the evident marks of His disciples is their love for one another. No matter what their differences are, they set them aside to be united for Christ. Of course, their love extends to other people, even unbelievers. Christ commanded His followers to love even their enemies.
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35) यदि आपस में प्रेम रखोगे तो इसी से सब जानेंगे, कि तुम मेरे चेले हो।
Apostle Paul says: Colossians 1:28-29 28 जिस का प्रचार कर के हम हर एक मनुष्य को जता देते हैं और सारे ज्ञान से हर एक मनुष्य को सिखाते हैं, कि हम हर एक व्यक्ति को मसीह में सिद्ध कर के उपस्थित करें।
29 और इसी के लिये मैं उस की उस शक्ति के अनुसार जो मुझ में सामर्थ के साथ प्रभाव डालती है तन मन लगाकर परिश्रम भी करता हूं।
- Use Spiritual gifts and Spiritual fruit (U) आत्मा के वरदान, आत्मा के फल को इस्तेमाल करें ।
Everyone who has trusted Jesus to be their Lord and Savior receives spiritual gifts through the power of the Holy Spirit. However, only the true and committed disciples of Christ use them to edify the church. They use their gifts in the ministries they are part of.
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” (1 Cor. 12: 4-7) 4 वरदान तो कई प्रकार के हैं, परन्तु आत्मा एक ही है। (Different gifts -Rom 12:6-8);
5 और सेवा भी कई प्रकार की है, परन्तु प्रभु एक ही है। 6 और प्रभावशाली कार्य कई प्रकार के हैं, परन्तु परमेश्वर एक ही है, जो सब में हर प्रकार का प्रभाव उत्पन्न करता है।
7 किन्तु सब के लाभ पहुंचाने के लिये हर एक को आत्मा का प्रकाश दिया जाता है।
- Do not be ashamed of the Gospel (D) सुसमाचार के प्रति लज्जित न होना।
Being Christ’s disciple is not easy, especially in this generation since persecution is becoming more rampant. Many Christians are bashed for not standing with the world or conforming to its ways. However, a true disciple will be courageous to stand for their faith. They will not be ashamed or afraid to proclaim the gospel and God’s Word.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” (Romans 1:16) 16 क्योंकि मैं सुसमाचार से नहीं लजाता, इसलिये कि वह हर एक विश्वास करने वाले के लिये, पहिले तो यहूदी, फिर यूनानी के लिये उद्धार के निमित परमेश्वर की सामर्थ है।
Remember TRUST – SURE – LoUd
